Leftovers.

On Christmas eve Grandmas came over for dinner and like every year we had lots of traditional and delicious food. When we were all done and the table was cleared I realized that I didn't take any pictures, and this year, because of the warm weather, I made small portions of everything so I could fit everything in the fridge. Normally I store extra Christmas food on my balcony but with the temperature + 14 C it was impossible. So the only leftover dish that I had was sauerkraut with split pea and dry mushrooms with potatoes, one of my favorites. It might not look pretty on this picture but its delicious.

Christmas cards.

I love getting cards for any occasion but most of all for Christmas. I think that I am the only person in my family that still sends birthday and any holiday cards which is really sad because there is something special about mailing cards. Its not just that you took the time to find the card and write it and send it but when you receive a card in mail it feels so nice. I keep all my card that I get so they don't end up in garbage. I always hang Christmas cards in a row and this year I had to take out some cards from previous year that I made and I keep them handy just in case I have nothing new to hang. Sadly this year I received only two cards.

The snowman one is from my friend who always remembers about me and the other one with trees is made by my daughter.

All cross stitched ones are made by me.

And the last one came from my husbands family.

Christmas.

Merry Christmas everyone. We usually open our presents on Christmas Eve but my husband had to work so we are waiting until this morning. Here is our tree and some of the ornaments I made over the past few years.

And other decorations.

In the kitchen.

Yesterday was another day with flour everywhere, I was working mostly on perogies and tortellini. there is two kinds of perogies, one with prunes and the other with sauerkraut and mushrooms. The tortellini is with mushrooms and they are for the red borscht.

Cookies.

There are cookies everywhere, I spend all day in the kitchen, the smell was wonderful. We had to try some and they were delicious. Most of the cookies will go to friend and family but I made enough that we will have plenty leftovers. And today is another day in the kitchen, this time cooking some traditional Christmas dishes.

Today is a cookie day for me, yesterday I took out the cookbooks and made a list. There will be at least four types of cookies.

Mending.

I got these long pillows from IKEA for my kids to put them against the wall on their beds. They came with one cover so I decide to make another one for each pillow so I can change them and wash it. While I was taking off the original cover the pillows ripped apart and the stuffing was coming out so I made new permanent covers to keep the stuffing in.

Stitching.

My sweet Ella started her stitching and I have to say she is amazing, I didn't have to explain to her anything she just did all the letters on her own. I just helped her with the thread and knots. We left the heart for another day.

I did some stitching too, some time ago I did lots of cross stitch but now all my free time is spend with sewing machine, however from time to time I miss it so I decided that Christmas Season is perfect for little stitching project.
