Blueberries.

On the weekend I made some yummy blueberry perogies, we love this time of the year because of the great things we can make with all the fruits.

Also on my balcony I have a new resident, a black currant

And I cut first basil for pesto.

Strawberries.2.

Strawberries are still the number one here, now we are just enjoying them everyday in different forms like smoothies and pancakes.

Strawberries.

New preserving season is officially here, first I played with strawberries. Like every year I made some jams and freeze some strawberries for smoothies and oatmeal breakfasts.

21 jars of freezer jams:

8 jars of regular jam, I keep it in the fridge and we finish them before the summer is over.

Freezing bigger pieces for smoothies:
I freeze them on a baking sheets and then transfer them into freezer bags.

And smaller ones for breakfast:

Mending.

Every spring we change our bed covers from winter cosy ones to more spring and light ones. We all have quilts that I got long time ago, I don't even remember where. My daughters's cover was slowly falling apart, there were holes here and there so when I washed it few weeks ago I started to mend it. I simply stitched on little patches everywhere there was a hole, this way the cover will survive many more years.

Day in a kitchen

Yesterday was a day full of baking and cooking and making all sorts of stuff in the kitchen.
First I made vegan scones, we love to eat them with a homemade jam:

For breakfast I made apple pancakes with bananas and maple syrup, the apples are baked in:

I made some raspberry ice tea, this was my last jars of homemade raspberry juice. I definitely have to make more this year.

Next I made a tomato salad from the rescued tomatoes:

And on the end I made garlic honey, it's basically garlic swimming in honey. It is a great cold an flu fighter.

Peppers.

On my last grocery shopping trip I got some veggies that were discounted because they were little bit bruised. Beside saving some money I saved the veggies from ending up in the garbage and they were perfectly fine. So I cut the peppers and freeze them for later dinners. The zucchini I will make into a  bread and the tomatoes into salad.
